About Me

I recently graduated from the single subject credentialing program at CSUSM. I am now a credentialed physical education teacher. My mission is to create a safe, developmentally appropriate environment where students can gain the necessary knowledge and skills to understand the importance of being physically active in order to become lifelong movers. I wanted to become a PE teacher because I want to students to have positive associations with being physically active. There is a large portion of our population who is overweight or obese and the primary reason for this is that they are not physically active. I want students to learn from a young age how important is is to live a healthy lifestyle and what is more important, teach them the skills and knowledge that will allow them to continue to be active. Quality physical education alone will not combat the nation's obesity epidemic, but it is definitely an important step in the right direction.

I was born and raised in Oceanside. I have so much pride and love for this town, I can't see myself living anywhere else. Some of my interests include spending quality time with family and friends. I still live at home with my dad and  two younger sisters. I also enjoy spending time with my boyfriend, Antonio.  I enjoy  reading and will read anything from magazines, to newspapers, to books. I even read the nutrition facts and ingredients in cereals while I am eating breakfast.  I also enjoy listening to all types of music.

A big part of my life is running. I ran cross country and track competitively for the past 9 years. I started running in 8th grade, the continued to run all four years in high school and in college. The picture above was taken at NAIA Track and Field National Championships in Marion, Indiana. This was my final collegiate race, and I was glad I was able to share it with my teammate Kelly. Even though I do not compete on a team anymore, I still continue to run because it brings me a lot of joy and happiness.
